RISE COLLECTION
Photographed entirely in Western Australia, “RISE” examines the phases that we work through after experiencing loss. It is an exploration of the emotional journey we take through darkness into light. After suddenly losing my older brother in 2022, I needed a way to create space and explore my emotions, mind, and soul.
“RISE” captures the emotion experienced through the sun’s daily journey and is a reminder that the sun will set, darkness will settle in, but the light will rise again, bringing with it an original day of fresh hope and opportunity.
To create this collection, I employed a defocussing technique to invite the viewer to explore their own emotions through abstracts of light, shape and colour of the sun in its various phases. “RISE” will guide you through darkness, struggle, hibernation, reflection and acceptance. Let it be what you need it to be; knowing that you are always able to “RISE” just as the sun does.
